We in America have 3 prominent school holidays: There's Christmas break, a two-week or so vacation around Christmastime, there's Spring break, a 1 week break after the third quarter, or halfway through the 2nd semester, and then there's summer break, which lasts about 2 months (and getting gradually shorter) from early June through early august after the end of the school year.
