Let's learn some Japanese verbs:
Laugh - waraimasu
Walk - arukimasu
Start - hajimaerimasu
Wake Up - okirimasu
Know - shirimasu
Do - shimasu
Sleep - nemimasu
Learn - naraimasu
Go - ikimasu
Say - iimasu
Speak - hanasemasu
Love - aishimasu
Q. How do you say 'like' and 'hate' in Japanese?
It's a little different from normal verbs. They are adjectives.
The way to say 'I am fond of _____'. This translates to '_____ ga suki desu'.
The opposite is '____ ga kiirai desu'.
I like cats
Neko ga suki desu
I hate dogs
Inu ga kiirai desu
I went to the park.
Paaku e ikimasu
Where did the 'e' come from?
This letter will either be 'e' or 'o'. 'E' is used when the thing that is getting 'verbed' is a direction, e.g. going to, driving to - it's nearly equivalent to 'to'. Otherwise, it's 'o'.
I walked to my house.
Watashi no ie e arukimashita.
The 'shita' adds the past tense. There are many tenses, but thankfully no future tense.
If:
Positive Present/Future: -imasu
Positive Past: -imashita
Negative Present/Future: -imasen
Negative Past: -imasendeshita
I didn't do it!
Sore o shimasendeshita yo!
Notice I add the 'yo' at the end for emphasis to the sentence.
I love you!
Anata o aishimasu yo!
That's all for now! :D
