My favorite generation is five, but four is a close second. I also enjoy gen 8 quite a bit, despite the lack of a compelling story or quality character writing.
As skeptical as I was at first that it would be anything more than a gimmick, I now stand behind Dynamaxing as the best thing to happen to competitive play in years. Yes, really.
The Mystery Dungeon series is amazing! I'm so glad it's continuing to get attention. Explorers of Sky literally shaped my soul. PMD Rescue Team DX is a quality remake of the old classics, and I'd solidly recommend it for new and old players alike!
For those who haven't tried the Ranger series, I would also recommend it for those who want a unique and moderately challenging single player experience. Shadows of Almia and Guardian Signs are both very polished games with a lot of content.

RIP sunglassless Lenny. He had too many imaginary cookies. He will be sorely missed.
