Good Pokemon to use get though the dungeon Northern Desert in EOT?

Question

I am currently playing as a
Squirtle, moves: Watergun, Tackle, Bite, Protect
and
Charmander, moves: Ember, Dragon rage, Metal claw,Smokescreen
Others:
Larvitar, moves: Rock Slide, Thrash,???,???
Starly, moves:I forgot....
Electrike , moves: T-wave, howl, T-shock, and tackle

Most of the Pokemon in that area are Ground, Rock and Steel. I would switch Starly and Electrike for a Water type. Lotad seems like a good choice or Barboach for Sandstorm immunity.
