If you use an ineffective status move on a Poke'mon will it work?

Like if you used Skill swap on a dark type would it work?

Yes it will work because Skill Swap is a status move only attacking Psychic moves don't work on Dark types

Since Skill Swap is a Stat move, it would still affect a dark type, the same way Sand Attack affects flying types, Growl affects Ghost Types, etc. Hope this helped! :)
