Can't deposit Alolan Marowak?!

So, I'm planning on resetting my USUM game and doing a Nuzlocke, but I don't want to lose my current Pokemon, so I put them in Pokebank. However, I can't deposit the Alolan Marowak that Oak gave me. Is this a glitch, or is it not allowed in PokeBank?

Totem-sized Pokémon based on Totem Pokémon that only appear in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon cannot be transferred to Pokémon Bank or traded to the original Sun and Moon games.

You can't transfer a totem Pokemon from US/UM (that's exclusive to both those games, which alolan marowak is) into Pokemon Bank :(
