Why did the Whirlpool effect go away?

I was playing showdown with a person, and while we were playing, I dynamaxed my Boldore, my opponents Kyogre used Whirlpool, but when I used Max Rockfall, the Whirlpool effect went away. It's not a bug or glitch.

If the user switches out, the target will be freed

Since Kyogre fainted, Boldore was freed from whirlpool.
