I was attempting to make a level 3 sparkling and encounter power water sandwich when I got these results. I somehow got Sparkling Power Water 1 and Title Power Fighting 1, the former of which I didn't even know was possible to get!

I tried a couple times to recreate the sandwich, which I'm pretty sure had 4 cucumbers, 1 pickle, and I know had 1 sweet and salty herba, all of which may not be in that exact order (if it even matters), and I'm pretty sure I didn't drop anything, but so far I haven't had any luck recreating it.

I know loosely that sandwich results are based on values, and according to a couple reddit comments having too much of one value is what makes you get 1 star, but I don't fully understand it. Plus, I've made similar sandwiches to these, although it may not have been these exact herba, so if anyone knows how the sandwich mechanic works and can explain how I failed Sandwich-Making-101 so bad it killed Rayquaza thrice, I would greatly appreciate it!

This isn’t enough to be a answer but I’ve seen that if you have more then 12 of the same ingredient it gets a low grade. Maybe because the game gives you 3 or 4 cucumbers per “ingredient” that set off the counter?
The thing is, I've used sandwiches before following a 3 of one ingredient plus one cucumber and pickle (so 4 cucumbers and a pickle for a water sandwich), and when try to recreate the sandwich I used 4 cucumbers and 1 pickle servings. So I'm not sure if having 12 of an ingredient alone is enough to trigger it.

Out of curiosity, where did you read this?
There was a few blog threads but it got it from here: https://community.pokemon.com/en-us/discussion/11942/scarlet-and-violet-does-anybody-know-how-a-sandwich-becomes-one-star    I did not make it a answer because like you said this source isn’t great.
The comment mentioned this sandwich making simulator which was actually super helpful (https://cecilbowen.github.io/pokemon-sandwich-simulator/)

Playing around with this, I discovered that I accidentally had 5 servings of cucumbers, and I was able to recreate the sandwich. If anyone can explain the values in depth so I can know why that extra cucumber serving mattered, that would be great, but if not, answering with "you had 5 servings of cucumbers" or something would be fine.

It seems you used five cucumber servings in the recipe and that using the sandwich sim I could recreate the sandwich you made. It looks like if you have more then 12 of a ingredient it gets 1 star but if you dropped all of the cucumbers in one serving it would have given you what you wanted.

This a common method in shiny hunting to drop certain ingredients because it can nullify a certain effect you don’t want and amplify the effects you do.

So it's just having more than 12 of an ingredient and it has nothing to do with the actual values? That's interesting but it makes sense.

For the record I didn't mean to use 5 servings of cucumbers, the recipe I use uses 4 servings, but anyways, thank you so much!
