Battle in the Z-A Royale
Your earnings are calculated by:
- How many reward medals you earned (up to 9999)
- How many trainers you defeated (up to a 3x multiplier for 30+ trainers)
- How many Gold Canari Plushes you've exchanged from Racine Construction (up to 3)
The best possible prize money you can earn in one night is $449955.
It can be difficult to hit the max payout, especially if you're earlier on in the main story, but the Z-A Royale is the best way to make money at any point in progression even if you don't perform perfectly. Here are some tips for maximizing your earnings:
- Pick up any reward medals you see on the ground; collecting just a few of them can be equivalent to a trainer battle.
- Fight rich trainers to be rewarded with extra medals after your battle.
- Fight Collectors (the fat guys wearing Pokemon merch) to get bonus cards that give extra high rewards. You can identify a bonus card by its sparkling numbers.
- Unless you have a bonus card that wants you to sneak up on trainers, don't even bother trying to be stealthy. The day/night cycle is paused during Royale battles, so just run up and get noticed as fast as you can to save time. Efficient movement from one battle to the next is key to cramming in a large number of wins.
- Have movesets with good type coverage, as many cards involve using moves of a specific type.
- It may actually be helpful to battle "badly" to progress on cards that want you to land hits of a certain type a certain number of times. Since time is paused, you can take your time grinding out 20 Absorbs on one enemy Scolipede. Opponents who heal (Audino, Florges) can also help with this.
- If you're running out of trainers to fight, fly back to the entrance or to another battle zone if they exist. Don't waste nighttime climbing scaffolding.
Also, if you have accumulated 20 wins in the Infinite Z-A Royale, you can go to Hotel Richissime to do Side Mission 119: Le Super-Tournoi de Jacinthe O, which offers a huge reward of $300000 and 30 Luxury Balls. You can easily repeat the same battle as many times as you'd like after that, which offers up to $8100 per win—this isn't super efficient since she has a full team, but it's a less fussy option if you don't want to hunt down trainers or do weird strategies with cards in the Z-A Royale.
The last tip for making money is just to sell everything under the "Treasures" tab at a Pokemon Center. These items don't have any other use and you'll likely have accumulated some throughout your adventure.
