I read what you asked on your profile, about why there's a Shiny craze. Well, they're hard to get and getting one is usually a challenge. Hours of Shiny hunting and you get a Pichu that barely looks any different. But you feel a sense of happiness and accomplishment, as you didn't give up and now you have a Pokemon to represent your hard work.

At least, that's my view on it.

You're gaining points really fast and don't worry mods will come maybe about one month later and set your answer as BA.

Shiny Pokemons, like everyone says, their extremely rare. When you finally see one, it makes you feel like you have insane luck. Shiny Pokemons in competitive battling is even rarer. You need the correct nature(using mints :P), the correct IVs(using Bottle Caps), take some time to EV train it and make sure it has the ability you want(with Ability Capsules and Ability Patches). It takes lots of work to prepare a shiny Pokemon to go in competitive battling. Kind of to show off, well, everyone should be impressed about shiny Pokemons and how long these players have been trying to get them. How much effort they spend.....

A format that is mainly doubles. It is the official formats that Nintendo the self hold. VGC doesn’t allow legendaries and all Pokémons are strictly level 50

VGC is a doubles format, however unlike smogon's doubles OU, there are several restrictions different from DOU's. For one, in restricted years, you can use any Pokemon allowed in battle facilities like Battle Tree. Some legendaries are allowed, like the lati twins, the Kanto birds, the regis, but mythicals aren't allowed. Yes, that means you can use Pokemon that are usually ranked Ubers, like Naganadel, Mega Kangaskhan, etc... Some years however, Mega stones and Z-moves are banned. During years without mega stones and z-power, you can usually use some traditional legendaries like Groudon and Kyogre, but in their regular stage and not Primal. Also, unlike smogon's rules in VGC you can Dynamax, use Double-team and Minimize, and use Fissure, Sheer cold, Guillotine, and Horn Drill
