Just becuase people are dumb about the use of Growlithe does not mean that it is a pokemon that you shouldn't like. Just because people use it in AG for some reason is not a good reason to shame it. I respect Arcanine for who it is and I'M ALLOWED TO.

Fair enough. I only really meant that with how funny I found the source to be.
I honestly think the Steel-type would be more fitting, but my best guess is to indicate Flying-types are immune to it in Gen 2. It was the first stage hazard introduced in those games, prior to Pokémon with the grounded state, so it's likely in reference to Flying's immunity to Ground.
