Wall for trachy (page 43)

New preview for The Giver makes me think it will start off as a strong movie, then as soon as everything is fully in color, the film will lose the point of the book and devolve into actiony crap.

Someone uses scrub in a serious capacity.
That person should not be treated seriously.

My favorite politically correct fail is the weird movement from calling a person black to calling them African American.

My lord. Reading up on it it seems as if the writers have never read a Batman comic.

So apparently Fox is doing some Batman TV series where all of the characters are teens/kids.

WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Batman is one of the few comic book heroes they could've chosen where the teen story of them will not work. The world is just far too dark and adult. Plus Batman's Rogue Gallery would not exist, as a running theme of the Batman comic books is that while Batman leads to a decrease in organized crime such as the Falcone family, his presence leads to the rise of costumed crime (this can be best seen in The Long Halloween). It has been shown many times without Batman, most of these villains would actually become sedate (such as is the case with Joker in The Dark Knight Returns).

Teen versions of the Batman characters would not work on so many levels, and it's unwelcome to see something so unfaithful to the source material after the excellent Nolan trilogy (whose only main deviations from the comics was the welcome change to Robin, and the fact that Bruce Wayne actually leaves Gotham and Batman behind in the end.)
