Are Absorb Bulb and Water Absorb not compatible?

Question

I was battling ATD on Showdown, and her Kingdra used Waterfall on my Lanturn, which has Water Absorb. Lanturn was at full HP, so Water Absorb didn't heal it, but the Absorb Bulb didn't activate. Is it because Water Absorb took in the water attack, so Absorb Bulb didn't?

Yeah, that's because. Ability activates before Item, just like Air Balloon won't pop when Heatran gets hit by a Fire-Move (Flash Fire).
