What is the quickest way to get shroomish in HG?

I want breloom for my team in the kanto part of the game after I beat the Elite Four, but I don't know how early he is found in the kanto part of the game. I know were he is found. How early do you get to viridian forest? Which gyms do I need to beat before I can get him?

You get to Viridian Forest after you beat Brock. (HG walktrough)

You can get Shroomish from the Safari Park as well.
