Was there GTS in Generation 3?
No, there wasn't. It was impossible. The only wireless thing you could do in gen 3 was trade and battle via the wireless adapter but even then you had to be next to the person you were battling or trading with.

No there was no GTS in 3rd Generation because any Gameboy didn't have any way to connect to the Wi-fi
