Does the adapter light up in any way even if I'm not doing a trade? I do have FireRed.
No the adapter doesn't light up or anything, if you are or aren't doing a trade. You would know it wasn't working if you went to trade with a friend and it told you to connect the adapter and you and your friend already had it connected.
