PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

So recently Ive been using an Exeggutor in my team, but I personally would like something thats more of a physical Pokemon. So whats a good replacement for Exeggutor?

I would like something with around the same type coverage (Maybe not as weak to bug) but just something a bit more physical.

Obviously I know that Celebi is obviously a pretty good replacement, but I wouldn't mind something a bit more.... "unexpected?"

Also, dont be afraid to say Pokemon that you dont think I will be able to get, I powersave my Pokemon, (Yes I know its cheap but its just faster than doing a ton of EV training and breeding and... Anyway :p xD)

So, whats the best replacement?

Above are some pretty lethal, physical attacking Grass types if they are used right. None are 4X weak to Bug and I'm guessing you don't care about tiers as your team seems pretty mixed.
EDIT: Ferrothorn can also be a good choice to resist Bug but not really as a physical attacker. If you want to set up rocks though use it without question.

1: Breloom

Technician is a necessity for Breloom. It's other abilities may be decent but it's this that's going to get you the win. A common set would include Spore along with Swords Dance. Offensive moves vary from Mach Punch to Bullet Seed usually alongside another attacking move that isn't inside the 60- move power.

2: Leafeon

This thing usually needs Sunny Day or something that has set up sun before it comes onto the field. The ability is really up to you; Leaf Guard if you don't want a sweeper to get staused and Chlorophyll if you want a monster that will outspeed everything. Leaf Blade is your best bet for a physical attacking move, also usually along with Swords Dance (a lot of setting up here I know but Grass types need it). Leafeon also usually has Synthesis which recovers so much in the sun and another move such as X-Scissor or Aerial Ace incase something resists Grass.

3: Simisage

This one can be Special or Physical but is usually used for Physical sweeping. Crunch or Shadow Ball with Seed Bomb, Acrobatics and Rock Slide usually does the trick.

4: Torterra

Probably the bulkiest on this list. Curse is great for this as its speed is no gem anyway. Earthquake is a monster. Stone Edge deals with those buggy bugs and Seed Bomb once again for stab.

5: Virizion

This thing is barely ever used but it could be put to good use on a team. Sacred Sword and Leaf Blade/Giga Drain (it can be a mixed attacker), Hidden Power Ice/Stone Edge and Calm Mind/Swords Dance.

There's a group of five that could be used. Hope I helped.
And hey, stay away from cheats.
Just kidding ;)

Wow! Thanks a ton! Its amazing to think someone would spend so much time answering a question from me! Thanks a lot! ;)
Ah no problem. I try ^-^
Personally Im torn between Breloom and Leafeon.

I chose against the other 3 because : Virizion - Although its got the stats, I dont honestly like using it, I dont really like its grass fighting either. But a good option none-the-less

Simisage - Again, a very good choice but the stats aren't the best and although it has a relatively good movepool, I just dont really have experience using the kind of pokemon that vary that much and doesnt has as concentrated stats, but this one was probably the closest to being in my top 2.

Torterra - It was hard letting this one go as its probably one of my favourite starters ever, and as you said, EQ is a beast, OI just do want something speedy as usually it comes down to speed with grass based types.

Anyway Im still choosing between these 2. On the one hand Leafeon can be amazing and speedy, and especially when its set up, but breloom is amazing to sweep when its up against the right team (It can sweep really well when used effectively). What do you think of the 2?
Personally I'd choose Breloom.
Whilst Leafeon can be a good sweeper Sunny Day is quite risky to set up with its fire weakness. Brelooms spore is much more reliable when setting up Swords Dances.
Breloom also has the higher attack stat of the two and probably a more diverse movepool.
chose Leafeon if you want to outspeed everything in sight though.
Breloom it is ;)

What you need based on your description:

  • Grass Type
  • Physical
  • No Bug Weakness

Now, let's find Pokémon that fit this criteria. These Pokémon listed are Grass Types with decent attack and aren't weak to Bug thanks to secondary typing.

  • Victreebel
  • Breloom
  • Chesnaught
  • Trevenant
  • Gourgiest
  • Ferrothorn
  • Virizion

It's up to you how you choose and delegate movesets.

Note: I didn't know your entire team, therefore I didn't consider size of movepool.

Hopefully I Helped!
