Do Macho Brace/Power Items have any effect on Showdown?

I have a Bronzong and want to give it a Macho Brace/Power item to increase Gyro Ball damage. I don't want to use Iron Ball because it nullifies Levitate, but I am not sure if they have an effect since they give no effect in battle (besides halved speed). If not, is there any alternative?

The Macho Brace does cut speed in half. It says so in the flavour text when you're adding an item in the team builder.

>Macho Brace: Holder's Speed is halved.

As far as the teambuilder goes, you cannot give a Power item to your Pokémon.
