Do items have any effect in Contests?

Wanting to try out some Contests in Omega Ruby, wondering if items have any effect.

The only items that will have effects in contests are the Scarf items - Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, and Pink (not Silk or Choice). They will boost your Pokemon's overall performance in contests.
