How does psybeam work in contests?

the description says "Makes audience expect little of other contestants." however, when I use it. it says it failed. I used it about 2-4 times and this happened every time. if it matters, the Pokemon using it is grumpig. in both normal and super ranked contests.

When another Pokémon uses a move to set up a Combo (when a Pokémon uses a move that allows them to obtain more hearts by using certain moves their next turn) the audience has a high expectation of that Pokémon. So, when you use that move, any Pokémon awaiting combos will be cancelled.
