This is one of my favorite gen 7 Pokemon so far, and this is the set I use:

Araquanid @ Wiki Berry/Chesto Berry/Leftovers
Ability: Water Bubble
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 20 Def / 236 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Scald
- Leech Life
- Rest
- Aqua Ring/Stockpile/Double Team/Toxic

If you want an attacking version, go with this set:

Araquanid @ Choice Band/Leftovers/Shell Bell
Ability: Water Bubble
Level: 50
EVs: 132 HP / 252 Atk / 124 Def
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Leech Life
- Crunch
- Poison Jab

With water bubble, liquidation becomes 255 base power after STAB, making it your best attack.

SubToxic
Gen 8 NU

Araquanid @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 52 HP / 252 Atk / 204 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Liquidation
- Leech Life / Infestation

SubToxic set. This set allows you to take advantage of Vaporeon and bulky Flygon. Substitute is to help dodge status conditions. Toxic allows you to wear down bulky Pokemon like non Heal Bell Vaporeon. Liquidation is stupidly powerful STAB thanks to Water Bubble and allows you to beat Pokemon like Salazzle and Aerodactyl. Leech Life is to help you stay in longer. Infestation can be used instead to trap Pokemon that are unable to pivot and can do chip damage and works well with Toxic. 204 Speed EVs is to outspeed 236 Speed EVs Jolly Glastrier and is also enough speed EVs to speed creep Vaporeon so you can make non Heal Bell Vaporeon's life heck. 252 Attacks EVs allow Liquidation to hit hard if you need to attack something. The rest of the EVs go to HP.

I like to use this set, bulky yet stupidly powerful, even more if you set rain (aka peliper with drizzle).

Araquanid @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Water Bubble
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Sassy / Careful Nature
- Leech Life
- Rest
- Liquidation
- Stockpile

Lead with this monster and Stockpile into Rest, if you can get more than 1 Stockpile that is pretty much it for the enemy.

If this is for VGC, pair it up with something that can set up rain, Liquidation will pretty much liquidate anything under the rain. (STAB + Water Bubble + Rain)

Checks / counters in the current meta:
1. Tapu Bulu - Can tank pretty much every hit you have and hammer you to oblivion, unless you have stockpile.
2. Tapu Koko - Thunderbolt, enough said. Take Assault Vest or set up a Light Screen.

Stuff that this thing counters that are popular right now:
The rest of the Tapus.
All of the UBs.
Marowak-Alola.

I like this set, but there's just one thing I don't understand. Why go for Sassy (-Speed) on a physically attacking set when you can go for careful (-Special Attack)?

Araquanid @ Leftovers / Big Root
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Leech Life
- Stockpile
- Substitute / Protect / Toxic

I haven't played competitive SM but this seems like a good set. It could be pretty strong if it can get a stockpile off. Leech Life is its only healing option other than rest. Liquidation helps against things that resist Leech Life.

Araquanid @ Mystic Water
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rain Dance
- Liquidation
- Lunge
- Leech Life

I like to use this set a lot because after a rain dance the power of liquidation before STAB is 204 and with STAB is 306. This is not even calculating the Rain Dance boost. You also have leech life for bug stab and also recovery.
If you can also set up tailwind this can sweep the opponent's entire team.

Araquanid @ Waterium Z
Ability: Water Bubble
Level 50
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Liquidation
- Lunge
- Rain Dance
- Leech Life

The first turn you should do a Z-Rain dance to make your Araquanid faster, after you can use whatever you want.
(Liquidation is your strongest move because of the Rain, STAB and the ability.)

One of my favorites! ^-^

Araquanid @ Wacan Berry
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpA
Naughty Nature
- Liquidation
- Lunge
- Ice Beam
- Toxic

Water Bubble increases STAB for Liquidation and protects you from burns and partially from Fire Type attacks.
Lunge for STAB.
Liquidation for STAB and Rock Types.
Ice Beam for getting Flying Types.
Toxic for lowering HP on bulky Mons.
The Wacan Berry should protect it from one strong electric attack since this set doesn't have electric coverage.

Araquanid
Araquanid @ Leftovers / Splash plate
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Def or Spe
Adamant Nature
- Leech Life
- Stockpile
- Liquidation
- Aqua Ring

Leech Life is STAB healing and nice damage with 80 Power, this stacks nicely with Aqua Ring and Leftovers providing a 1/8 healing per turn. With Stockpile to bolster both defences to high levels after one Stockpile, allowing Araquanid to tank hits and dish out a powerful STAB Liquidation: 240 Power with Leftovers and 288 Power with Splash Plate. This Pokemon is unique with its Water Bubble ability weakening Fire type attacks and protecting it from burn.
EVs: 14 EVs allow to outspeed other bulky Pokemon, or you can run 14 in defence to boost its defence stat slightly. 252 Attack EVs allow it to hit hard. And 244 Hit point EVs allow it to take plenty of hits. I personally like mixing and experimenting with effort value distribution. It makes the Pokemon much more unique in its spread.
Toxic is large issue with this set.
Either item is viable: for more recovery; leftovers, for more damage with liquidation; splash plate. ![][1]
Enjoy.

Role: Physical Tank

Araquanid @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Bubble

- Liquidation
- Leech Life
- Mirror Coat
- Aqua Ring

Gen 8 NU
Araquanid
Araquanid @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Atk / 68 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Sticky Web
- Leech Life
- Toxic

Liquidation is STAB and gets a boost from Water Bubble. Sticky Web is for an entry hazard. Leech Life is STAB and is for healing. Toxic is to wear down the opponent.

So here's my Araquanid..
Araquanid @ Shell Bell
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Ring
- Liquidation
- Leech Life
- Poison Jab

Aqua Ring is healing, Liquidation is strong STAB, Leech Life is STAB + healing, and Poison Jab has a 30% chance to poison.

Shell bell is horrible, use leftovers.

This one for the memes, but good for stalling or setting up for your team.

Araquanid @ Grip Claw
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 126 HP / 252 Def / 126 SpD
Impish Nature
- Sticky Web
- Infestation
- Stockpile
- Leech Life

Sticky webs are if you want to set up for your other Pokemon. If you want to stall, go for a stockpile infestation combo. Grip claw ensures you get the most out of infestation, and spam leech life for recovering.

Use 252 Def, 128 SpD, and 128 HP because it maximizes the stats you can have. 252 Def, 252 HP, and 4 SpD would be better too.

Spider Web Trapper
National Dex Monotype (Bug)

Araquanid @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spider Web
- Toxic
- Soak
- Rest

I've been using this set on mono bug recently and it's really fun to use. This is a specially defensive set that can deal with Pokemon like Heatran and Toxapex. Spider Web is to trap Pokemon that don't have a way to switch out with a move like Teleport, Volt Switch, etc. Toxic is to wear down the Pokemon that are trapped by Spider Web. Soak is to get rid of the poison or steel typing i.e Toxapex by turning them into a pure water type so you can poison them with Toxic. Rest is for recovery and also let's you get rid of status like Toxic poisoning. Galvantula is a mandatory Pokemon to use with this set for a Sticky Web setter, as Araquanid is usually a Sticky Web setter, and Sticky Web is a must for Bug mono.

Gen 8 SwSh Monotype (Bug)

Araquanid @ Assault Vest
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Leech Life
- Scald
- Mirror Coat

If you want to use Araquanid on a Bug Mono that has Galvantula as the Sticky Web setter, here is an Assault Vest set you can use. With Assault Vest, your Special Defense is 300, and that is without investing EVs in Special Defense. Liquidation is for Water STAB and is stupidly powerful thanks to Water Bubble. On top of that, Liquidation has a chance to lower the defense of opposing Pokemon. Leech Life is for Bug STAB that can let you recover some HP. Scald might seem weird on this set, especially with Adamant Nature, but Scald's purpose is to fish for the 30% chance to burn opposing Pokemon, which can cripple most physical attackers. Mirror Coat allows you to deal out damage that punishes special attackers.

Is there any move I could replace Scald with if I want to use the set in SV?
Hmm, I guess you could do Poison Jab, or Tera Blast with a Tera like Electric or Ice if you want to cover some Pokemon that resist Araquanid's STABs. (You could do Chilling Water to cope, but I wouldn't do Chilling Water though)
With the team I have, I should cover some of Araquanid's weaknesses, poison jab does sound like a good replacement for scald and I don't want to use tera blast on a third pokemon that might not get Tera'ed, so I'll go with poison jab, thanks for helping me out
