Will a Pokemon still get damaged after consuming Cell Battery?

Question

So I was scrolling through the items and I came across Cell Battery(haven't been looking very long, but I had an idea). If hit by an electric attack, Cell Battery is consumed and it raises Attack, but do I still get hurt by the electric attack?
If it does then I want to put it on Gyarados.

If the holder is hit by a Electric-type damaging move, it consumes the Cell Battery and its Attack is increased by one stage.

This may read a little confusingly. No, Cell Battery doesn't prevent damage, it's only effect is to boost your Attack when hit with an Electric move. :P
