Does the level limit effect your Pokemon?

Question

My Combusken is Level 17, and I know that if you get a traded Pokemon that is too high of a level, it won't listen to you some of the time. I only have the first badge (Which lets Pokemon up to level 20 listen to you), so does that mean that if Combusken's (not from a trade) level goes higher that 20, it won't listen to me? (Alpha Sapphire)

Nope, any of your own Pokemon will listen to you even if they're above the Gym Badge limit. I've done the same thing on numerous games, including ORAS.
