Help with Pick Up ability and Leftovers?

Question

So l heard you can get Leftovers through the ability Pick Up.
The thing is, l don't know how Pick Up works!

Does the Pokemon with the ability Pick Up have to be a specific type or something?
What type of Pokemon will l have to have, and how do l even receive it?
Do l just randomly have it holding an item at the end of the battle, or how do l know?
What will l have to set up when l want the item Leftovers, and what will l have to battle?

You just have to have the pokemon with pickup on your party. After a battle, any Pokémon on the team that has this Ability and is not already holding an item has a 10% chance of picking up an item, even if the Pokémon wasn't used in battle. After that, you can just take the item from them. It's not gonna be easy to get leftovers, since the pokemon's level plays a role in what items it can get. Your pokemon with pickup would have to be at least level 81, and even then, the item it picksup only has a very low chance of
getting leftovers. At this point, it's more work than it's worth to get the item.
