Can you use the isolation method to get shiny Applin?

I really want an shiny applin to evolve into dipplin when the dlc releases and was wondering if you could use the isolation method, and if so, what sandwhich type and what location?

The isolation method is when you make an encounter power sandwich to only spawn a specific Pokemon in a certain area.

In the case of Applin however, since it only spawns in trees naturally, OP's best bet is to do the afk method Polteageist mentioned or hunt Applin in an outbreak.

Something about making a Dragon encounter sandwich, sitting in front of two specific trees, having a tall Pokemon like Miraidon or Koraidon knockout the Applin in the trees with the let's go method until they stop because the let's go feature won't kill a shiny, something like that. I actually haven't done the method myself, but I remember watching a videos on it.

whiteout thats not isolation method, isolation method is eating a sandwich, spawning everything that can spawn at once, then killing everything in all the groups. Because a group cant spawn as all but 1 of the slots are full, it will spawn a pokemon that isn't in a group. This is useful for things like slither wing, which is the only fighting type pokemon in its area that cant spawn in a group. Applin doesn't need this, as it's the only dragon in the forest

What I meant was isolating all the encounters to a specific type, which makes it easier to hunt a specific target. Of course, there won't always be just one Pokemon, there could be multiple of the same type, but still makes hunting a certain mon easier. I understand what you mean with the group thing, but I was providing a more general explanation.

With Applin, I know it's the only dragon in the forest, but since it only spawns in trees, it can be hard to see, so the afk method seems more efficient since you can stay in one place and there's no chance you will miss a shiny.

I'm really surprised no one has answered this. A Dragon sandwich with encounter power 3 will isolate Applin in Lagtree(tagtree) Thicket. Recipe: Pickle, cucumber, 3 avocados, and two herba except sweet and sour if paired with either of themselves.
