How did Knock Off not knock off Loaded Dice on my Garchomp?

It’s because it fainted to Rough Skin from Garchomp.

This article says so if you scroll down to Gen 5 area.

If the user faints due to the target's Ability (Rough Skin or Iron Barbs) or held Rocky Helmet, it cannot remove the target's held item.
