In the story battle and when I transform Terapagos in a raid battle, at some point it says something along the lines of "the tera types have been shifted!" In the story battle it seems to change the type that is super effective towards him, but how exactly does that work otherwise? Sorry if the question is unclear.

When you send Terapagos out in a battle, its ability Tera Shift will transform it into its Stellar form. The Stellar form has the signature ability Tera Shell, which has the following effect:

When Terapagos is hit by a damage-dealing move at full HP (that does not have no effect due to type matchups), it will always be not very effective. The whole move is not very effective, even in the case of multistrike moves.

In the story battle, Terapagos’s type changes every time it puts up a new barrier. It starts as a Normal type, then a Psychic type at the second barrier, and a Water type at the third barrier.

EITHER its ability is making it resistant to attacks that hit it while its at full HP OR in the story battle, it becomes the tera type of the tera'd Pokemon that defeated it.

Do you know if terapagos's type actually changes or if he just becomes resistive to that specific attack? Also the types in the story battle seem to be pre set. Otherwise good answer thanks!
Pretty sure it's type actually changes in the story battle
