PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

For context, in FRLG on the GBA, you can’t evolve Golbat or Chansey, etc, until the postgame.

I was wondering, since they patched the Roar Glitch, if this was also a thing changed. I feel like this would’ve been a welcome change that they would have considered, since it was very stupid to block Crobat to the postgame.

I feel like this title is poor. Please feel free to change it or give recommendations if there’s something better fitting.

I think a better title would be "Does the switch re-release of FRLG still block evolving into non-generation one Pokemon before the post game?".
They propably didn't do this because this is an intended game mechanic and not a glitch, and the re-release left most other mechanics the same as the original. Bulbapedia doesnt mention any changes to how to the national pokedex works, so its propably unchanged.

Yes, evolving into non-generation one Pokemon is still blocked in the Nintendo Switch re-release of Fire Red & Leaf Green is still blocked. So Golbat and Chansey still cannot evolve before getting the National Dex. There is no mention of this change on the Bulbapedia page for FRLG. I also found an article from The Gamer stating this, linked below.
