Before you say “ty just shut up and play the game” I am unfortunately employed and only was able to get two hours in. After the main tutorial, the entire time, my game was in night. I was wondering if it was automatic, had a cycle, how long the cycle was, and if there were any benefits to changing between day and night? And how to change it if that’s possible

It's based on the real time of day according to your device's clock.

The game features a real-time day-night cycle, as well as weather conditions which can change the environment.

According to early reports, the discrete time periods in a day are:

  • Morning: 6 AM – 9 AM
  • Daytime: 9 AM – 5 PM
  • Evening: 5 PM – 7 PM
  • Nighttime: 7 PM – 6 AM

Interestingly, the game doesn't seem to have any consequences for manually adjusting the clock in your system settings ("time-traveling") like many time-based games do, so if you have a limited amount of time to play and don't mind exploiting the time-based features, you can desync your system clock to skip ahead. Without spoiling any specifics, this helps you access features that show up during different times of the day and quickly complete tasks with a real-time duration.
