Why am I unable to pick up carpets in my Leaf House in Pokopia?

Question

Last night, I was playing Pokopia with my brother, when he told me he can't pick up the carpet he placed in his Leaf House. I didn't believe him, but man, that carpet is stuck. It's the plain white ones. We tried camera angles, messing around with controllers, removing everything, and it won't budge. Why can't we pick up the carpet?

It took a bit of trial and error but i think you have to take all furniture off of it first. It cant be picked up if items are on top. Hope this helps
