So stomping tantrum doubles in power if your previous move failed. But what if the move is absorbed by earth eater does that count as failing and will that give you the power boost the following turn?

Also can someone make a Earth eater tag or re tag this for me?

So if stomping tantrum attacks an earth eater Pokemon aka Orthworm, stomping tantrum will be absorbed by the earth eater Pokemon like the ability states. But because stomping tantrum failed to affect the target of damage, it shall double next turn. Also this doesn’t work with protection moves so stomping tantrum doesn’t double when protected by via protection moves.

Ok thanks the bulbapedia page definitely helped clear things up for me. Also based off what bulpapedia said if I where to use earthquake and my teammate is levitating and I still hit both opponents would i still get the double damge stomping tantrum despite hitting both my opponents?
I would say no because I think it’s the turn after. But some testing may be needed
