It was first seen in the anime I'm pretty sure and likely was in Pokemon Go for some sort of event.
It originates from the first Pokemon movie when Giovanni sorta captures Mewtwo. Mewtwo is put in this set of armor so that Team Rocket can control Mewtwo’s power. They then use Mewtwo to catch a herd of Tauros and for gym battles. It’s was in a Pokemon Go event and you could only get it by defeating it in a raid then catching it. Of course there is trading but who is gonna give up one.
Bro answer the question if you have the info.
Find ok

Reason why they did this was for the 25th anniversary of Pokemon and for the release of Netflix’s Mewtwo strikes back p: evolution. Armored Mewtwo was also seen in episode 63, “Battle of the Badge” and Episode 67 “Showdown at Po-ke Corral.”

Doesn’t armored Mewtwo show up in the anime a bit as well? Also why was there a go event? Was it an event of its own or did it go along with something else? Also for something like this I feel you need other sources besides yourself as this isn’t something you can just test yourself.
Armored mewtwo does show up in the anime for like an episode or two.
Ok there you go
Thanks for addressing those things
