Hidden Power and Gems

Question

Lets says my pokemon holdng an ice gem and if I use Hidden Power[Ice] does ice gem activate

Just tested in my Pokemon White:

Musharna had Hidden Power (Grass)
Gave it a Grass Gem
Used Hidden Power on wild Watchog
Grass Gem DOES ACTIVATE and Musharna attacks with a 50% increase in power.

I can agree to this. My Lilaggant used Hidden Power with the Bug Gem, and it totally PWND!

My Audino also used Hidden Power holding the corect gem(ICE), and the move really gained power!
