And I finally know what you're talking about (for real).
It's Gau.
Literally after I looked up "Gau is a character from" it showed me Final Fantasy IV (like you said) and somethin' about feral child. (Guess the same thing with Tomba...) I thought Gau was a Dragon Ball character because of your love with it.
