I do think you made the right move, severing the friendship. Good job doing that -- ending a friendship can't be easy :)

This is coming from my past experiences. A few years ago, I had a friend that started being more aggressive towards me and my other friends, and he used to bully me a lot. If he hadn't left the school last year he would've kept tormenting me and my friends. You should take my advice and just sever ties with this possessive friend because I don't want what happened to me to happened to you. I hope this helps you
