Crustle (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 84 HP / 96 Atk / 252 Def / 76 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- X-Scissor
Crustle is my Stealth Rock lead. Sturdy allows it to get in Stealth Rock in almost all cases. Thankfully, people haven't taken to using Rock Blast over Stone Edge, so I feel pretty safe. Rock Blast is an incredible move however, especially for a lead. Once I've set up Stealth Rock, I can take down any lead who uses Focus Sash. Also, if I come against Crustle, I can expect Stone Edge to be used over Rock Blast. Just something I don't understand but it's just the way it is. X-Scissor gets STAB. Earthquake provides type coverage. As can be seen, my team is lacking in Ground type coverage. While not as important as it is in OU, Ground is still helpful. High base power makes up for a lack of STAB, and it will still hit for good damage off of 250 Attack. Crustle has high defense, and so can be made to switch in on moves that Blastoise and Umbreon are weak to. I added some special bulk to it also to survive unboosted-neutral hits. Blastoise can hit Rock type foes hard enough, as although it takes neutral damage it will likely have Reflect support up. Steel is never a problem. And Water... well, Blastoise and Eelektross deal with that.
Audino (F) @ Light Clay
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 244 HP / 88 Def / 176 SpD
Bold Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Wish
- Heal Bell
Best team support ever. Dual Screening is very helpful, allowing my team to take hits incredibly well. Heal Bell prevents Paralysis from crippling Swoobat, Burn and Poison from slowly destroying my heavy teammates, Sleep from causing me grief, and also protects me from the hated random freeze. And Wish heals my team for 204 HP, perfect for keeping my Pokemon healthy despite a lack of reliable recovery on their part. The beauty of Audino is that it can provide support throughout the battle thanks to Regenerator. Once you have done your job and switched out to the next Pokemon, Audino heals back up. Audino has great bulk with a typing with only a Fighting weakness, something less common in RU as it is in UU and OU. 408 HP, 253 Def, and 252 Sp Def. The EVs are a work of beauty for Audino. If I was to have a 176 Def EVs and 88 Sp Def EVs with a Special Defense boosting nature, the stats would in fact only come out as 252 Def and 252 Sp Def. With the EVs and Natures as they are, I gained an extra defense stat point. Swoobat easily takes any Fighting hit, even with its defense, a x4 resistance goes a long way. You may notice that my team is half female. This is to lessen the impact of Attract on my team.
Eelektross (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 136 Atk / 152 Def / 216 SpD
Careful Nature
- Coil
- Crunch
- Brick Break
- Wild Charge
A bulky physical attacker. I originally had Charizard in this spot, but I found that bulky waters were much too much of an annoyance for it to stay. Not because Charizard had trouble, but the fact that my team needed a quick way to take down bulky waters; so I used Eelektross. It has an unboosted Attack stat of 300. Coil boosts that, as well as my 234 Def. Crunch and Brick Break provide type coverage, while Wild Charge is obviously there for STAB, with damage being healed off by Wish from Audino. 312 HP, 234 Def boosted by Coil, 275 Def, Leftovers, and no weakness goes a long way towards being bulky. Also of importance is the common use of Earthquake in RU, which Eelektross can safely come in on.
Swoobat (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Simple
EVs: 248 SpA / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stored Power
- Charge Beam
- Air Slash
- Calm Mind
I know, it isn't bulky. But it is incredibly powerful. 359 Speed makes it a very fast Pokemon. And Special Attack? Well, Calm Mind makes it 504. And it boosts Special Defense to a decent 296. After one Calm Mind, Stored Power becomes a base 100 attack that gets STAB. Coming off of 504 Special Attack. After two Calm Minds, Base 180 STAB Attack off of 756 Special Attack. Three, base 260 STAB attack off of 1008 Special Attack. However, I am unlikely to have the opportunity to use Calm Mind thrice in a row. So Charge Beam can be used to increase Stored Power and my Special Attack. While low base power, I can use it on Pokemon who managed to survive Stored Power, finishing off my foe and likely getting a +2 Special Attack boost. Air Slash is obviously there for STAB. Lum Berry makes it so that I don't have to switch out for Audino after being hit by Thunder Wave (or falling asleep/freezing.) This way I don't lose my boosts. Ice and Ghost is likely to come in a Special form. Swoobat can take Special hits. As for Rock and Dark, well Pursuit isn't so common in RU. And I can always switch in Umbreon. Blastoise, as I mentioned before, can deal with Rocks.
Umbreon (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic
- Curse
Wall. Wish provides not only team support but healing for Umbreon. I can use Protect so that it is like a one-turn heal move such as Recover. Protect also lets me get in more Leftovers healing and Toixc damage. Since I only want the foe to be badly poisoned, it has the ability Inner Focus. Curse bolsters my defense stat, letting it take physical hits better, so I can fully boost my Special Defense.
Blastoise (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 12 HP / 148 Def / 132 SpA / 216 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Haze
Scald provides STAB while also having a chance to burn, and Ice Beam is coverage. Haze stops stat boosters from dominating. Rapid Spin is mainly to protect Swoobat, although it helps my team as a whole. The defensive stats both reach 300, which along with 302 HP and Leftovers gives good bulk. Torrent is the ability as Rain Dish will unlikely activate in RU. A 239 Special Attack stat allows Blastoise to hit hard enough so that its attacks should 2HKO or 3HKO the foe.
