Please note that this team is no longer usable in LC following the Meditite ban.
While I've primarily been using offensive VoltTurn, another offensive strategy caught my attention: Baton Pass. Torchic single-handedly makes this a viable and dangerous strategy.
The Team
Teambuilding Process
If any Pokemon is broken in Little Cup (imo nothing is right now), it's Meditite. With the ability Pure Power and great dual STABs, the only thing keeping it from being banned is its mediocre Speed. But that's what I wanted to center it around, so I knew I would have to get around that downside somehow.
Now I needed to somehow patch up that sub-par Speed and make Meditite the monster it can truly be. Sticky Web was considered, but Murkrow and things like that still hindered me. I didn't want to hinder its capabilities with a Scarf, so Torchic was added. It could pass both Speed boosts and Swords Dance boosts to Meditite, giving it both wallbreaking power and Speed, turning it into a monster.
Now I wanted another abuser, one who could blast holes just as well as Meditite. Cranidos was originally added, but it just didn't have what I needed. I looked through the list of LC Pokemon for one who could sufficiently receive boosts, and eventually came to Bunnelby. Unlike its evolution, Bunnelby is actually viable, and has not let me down since.
After testing these Pokemon, I decided I needed something to actually take hits. And when you need a backbone in LC, you look to the regen core. Slowpoke + Foongus is incredibly solid and can counter the majority of the game. They simply don't die and can cripple with Thunder Wave and Spore.
So far, with some wearing down, my team was sweepable by SturdyJuice Shell Smashers, so I added my insurance, pivot, fairy killer, and glue in Magnemite.
After testing excessively with this version of the team, I found my sweeps constantly stopped by SturdyJuice, among other things. Paralyzing stuff wasn't helping my sweeps, as I already outsped virtually everything. I decided I needed rocks, and to sub my Slowpoke with a just as capable wall that nobody expects: Tirtouga.
And here we have the version of the team up until this point. It is primarily offensive, but can take hits with Foongus and Tirtouga. I like the team, as it is a step away from my usual teams.
