Having some fun trying to make a Monotype team able to go up against most other monotypes. Any advice is appreciated, I am pretty new to the teambuilding.

Update:
I've actually completely changed the style around, turning it into a hyper offensive one. Mostly because I still don't know how to properly use walls...

So instead i chose 5 strong pokemon, 3 physical and 2 special attackers and just went for good coverage defensively and offensively. and then added the gastrodon to soak up some of the incoming hits that i wouldn't otherwise be able to deal with.

Mamoswine @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 240 Atk / 16 Sp. Atk / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Freeze-Dry

Mamoswine gets a scarf because i was getting outsped a lot and due to it's frail nature, that meant that i was not able to use it effectively to sweep against dragons, it would often get taken out after a single hit. This set up has worked out for me so far, usually spamming icicle crash until switching out.

Landorus @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave
- Psychic
- U-turn

Landorus is used as a Wallbreaker, or just general special sweeping powerhouse. The U-turn is there mostly to bring in someone like Camerupt safely or just to switch into a better match up.

Garchomp @ Focus Sash
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Sp. Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head

I might want a Yache Berry instead, but so far the focus sash is working out as well. I mostly just don't want to get OHKO'd by ICE moves, which keeps happening without sash constantly.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 Sp. Def
Sassy Nature
- Toxic
- Clear Smog
- Scald
- Recover

The clear smog helps to stop boosting pokemon, which I have trouble dealing with usually. I use it as a switch in a lot of the times, and just recover the damage before either Toxic or a switch.

Excadrill @ Focus Sash Lead
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 255 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Toxic
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin

Guaranteed stealth rock in the first turn, or a OHKO/2HKO with Earthquake if possible (especially funny against levitate users). rapid spin just in case. Toxic for those super annoying magic bounce users due to Mold Breaker.

Camerupt-Mega @ Cameruptite
Ability: Solid Rock / Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Sp Atk / 4 Sp. Def
Modest Nature
- Ancient Power
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Will-O-Wisp

Powerful Special Sweeper that needs some help, but is working out for me if I get him in safely.

Garchomp: Replace fire blast with iron head to cover fairy weakness.
Hippowdon: Yawn doesn't work on poisoned targets, and toxic doesn't work on asleep targets. Replace yawn with earthquake in case the foe knows taunt or is immune to poison.
Gliscor: Replace levitate with poison heal so toxic orb doesn't damage it.
Oops, Gliscor was a typo.
I will definitely try out the other tips.

The only thing I am still struggling with is Mega Garchomp vs Mega Swampert.
So far the Mega Garchomp hasn't really been working out for me.

Any words of wisdom?
Swampert generally is not very good on MonoGround because it doesn't actually help deal with that many opposing threats considering most electric pokemon carry HP Grass, and Swampert isn't good for much else (MonoGround has better physical attacks and tanks). Seismitoad is generally preferred thanks to it's Water Absorb allowing it to much better deal with Water Types. Mega Swampert is slightly better due to it's not awful speed and great attack allowing it to pull a decent rain dance set, but it requires quite a bit of support and some very good water/grass checks besides itself.

To shorten it, Swampert has no niche to make it viable.

On MGarchomp, his lower speed and having no access to DDance means it's not a sweeper, but a wallbreaker. While he is an extreme;ly effective and frightening wallbreaker, it somewhat leaves you without having any major sweeper. I'd suggest to do one of these two things:

1.) If you want MGarchomp, then replace Nidoking with Landorus-I (normal lando). Lando is a very strong special sweeper that roughly fulfils the same roles as Nidoking but is faster and hits harder.

2.) If you want MSwampert, then make it a Rain Dance Sweeper (otherwise it has no valid niche) that uses Rain Dance with Waterfall, EQ and Stone Edge. You may have to make other adjustments to the team in order to better deal with water and grass types at this stage, but I'm a bit too lazy to make suggestion right now (plus I've been slacking on my monotype training).
I think base Garchomp is better than mega Garchomp just because its speed goes higher. Probably the best way to deal with grass is to use sludge wave Landorus, but I can't think of viable ways to deal with water. Torterra and Stunfisk come to mind, but they both suck.
Seismitoad deals with water like I said because Water Absorb. Gastrodon is also viable via Storm Drain.
M-Garchomp's set is a bit weird, it should run Draco Meteor over Swords Dance, and Stone Edge over Dragon Claw.

Building on PX's ideas, I'd suggest Gastrodon over Seismitoad, as Gastrodon allows you to check Keldeo + Gyarados-Mega.
This team should be able to deal with Grass Monos, but Mamoswine shouldn't be used as an SR lead. You can use Band. Replace Oblivious with Thick Fat, as this allows it to be a pivot into Ice-type attacks.

I'll post more suggestions later.

I might be putting up my Ground Mono on the RMT, so you can look at that for inspiration.
Thanks for all the help so far. I've made adjustments based on the feedback, but obviously it still needs work :0
Don't use MGar has a lead. You're supposed to get rid of MGar's checks so it can sweep lategame.

In terms of 'learning', knowing theory is of course a great thing but experience is the most valuable thing you can have. Knowing what you did wrong in a match, recreating the situation and doing it better is the fast track to being good. Asking about single elements you don't understand also is very useful. I'm actually writing a series of articles about how to get better and battling basics, but I've been very unwell lately. Stay tuned and it'll get going again.
This isn't Hyper Offence just so you know.
