I’ve been working on a Durant team ever since the series 6 rules came out since a lot of its threats are gone (Incineroar, Cinderace, and Sun are the big ones) and I felt it could be really strong. I’ve taken lots of inspiration from other players’ Durant teams, especially the teams made by Lukamir and Osiris Studios. This team is very, very similar to the Updated Goth Control Team by Osiris Studios (just one different Pokémon), so I’m not trying to show of a creative new team or anything, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the team and how I think it can handle the metagame, and get some help with the final movesets and spreads.
Durant @ Life Orb

Standard Durant set, Thunder Fang is my prefer 3rd move because of electric terrain and the ability to deal with bulky waters, which this team kind of struggles against.
Gothitelle @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Shadow Tag

Again, standard set. I’m not sure whether to invest in defense, special defense, or both, or whether to use a Mental Herb or health berry.

The only different Pokémon from the Osiris Studios team, alI thought that Comfey works really well with Gigalith and helps out a lot against Porygon-Z. Chilan Berry allows a guaranteed live against Helping Hand max strike. I’m not sure if Taunt or Protect is best.
Gigalith @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Sand Stream

A makeshift Tyranitar and a nice backbone of the team. When looking at the original team, I was trying to think of how to best handle Porygon-Z and I can to the conclusion that Gigalith was the best way because it’s typing and ability make it not threatened at all by the P-Z, whereas Snarl Arcanine would most likely get KO’d anyway. I decided to replace the Amoonguss with Comfey to set trick room for Gigalith, which really helps against the Dracovish that a lot of Hyper-Offense teams seem to have, and to proc Gigalith’s weakness policy around follow me, so it can then get rid of Clefairy and Porygon. Comfey/Gigalith is also a good way to deal with Arcanine, which the team usually does not like to deal with. It is also useful to trap and KO the occasional Charizard Sun teams that threaten Durant into sandstorm with Gothitelle. I’ve thought about gravity for the possibility of bringing Durant for late-game but I’m not sure.
Arcanine @ Iapapa Berry

Standard Stat-Lowering support. I believe that it’s EV’d to outspeed Porygon-Z but that’s kind of pointless. I’m not sure on the item either.
Primarina @ Assault Vest
Ability: Liquid Voice

Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe

Primarina is a bulky late game sweeper and kind or a combination between Lukamir’s Milotic and Sylveon. It in combination with Arcanine’s stat drops make it a threatening endgame. Hydro Cannon is for a last ditch effort or a late-game Dynamax, but you almost always Dynamax early with this team so I’m not sure whether it’s that valuable. I’m considering aqua jet for additional Gigalith support or Protect and a different item.
That’s the team! The main mode is Durant plus Gothitelle with Arcanine and Primarina in the back, but Comfey plus Gigalith can be swapped out for either of them.
