I've been using Grassy Terrain in ZU recently due to the good abusers there. The team has been doing good so far, and I want to know if there are any improvements I can make to the team. So, here is the team:
Team Pokepaste
Thwackey
Thwackey @ Terrain Extender
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Wood Hammer
Thwackey's role of the team is to setup Grassy Terrain thanks to the ability Grassy Surge, which automatically summon Grassy Terrain. Terrain Extender is for extending the turns Grassy Terrain. Grassy Glide is for priority STAB during Grassy Terrain. Knock Off is for removing items and cripples Pokemon such as Tangela, Cramorant, etc. U-Turn is for pivoting and allows you to bring in a teammate.
Galarian Rapidash
Rapidash-Galar @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Pastel Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Morning Sun
- Mystical Fire
- Stored Power
Galarian Rapidash is one of the Grassy Terrain abusers. Grassy Seed gives it an immediate defense boost upon entering Grassy Terrain. Pastel Veil grants Galarian Rapidash an immunity to Toxic, allowing you to use Pokemon such as Audino as setup fodder. Calm Mind is to boost your special attack and special defense, making you able to take special hits while being able to hit back with strong special attacks. Morning Sun is for recovery. Mystical Fire allows you to deal with steel types and lowers the special attack, making you even bulkier. Stored Power is psychic type STAB that gets more powerful when you raise your stats.
Thievul
Thievul @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Psychic
- Burning Jealousy
Another Pokemon that benefits from Grassy Terrain is Thievul. Grassy Seed gets consumed in Grassy Terrain, activating Unburden, doubling your speed. Nasty Plot raises your special attack. Dark Pulse is STAB and has a chance to flinch opposing Pokemon. Psychic is for coverage that hits Pokemon like Garbodor, Sawk, and Qwilfish super effectively. Burning Jealousy is for coverage against opposing dark types such as Shiftry, Alolan Persian, and Skuntank.
Trevenant
Trevenant @ Choice Band
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Poltergeist
- Grassy Glide
- Wood Hammer
- Drain Punch
A physical attacker that benefits from Grassy Terrain. Natural Cure allows you to heal you of status such as burns and poisoning when you switch out. Poltergeist is strong ghost STAB that reveals opposing Pokemon's item if they aren't already revealed. Grassy Glide is grass STAB that has priority in Grassy Terrain. Wood Hammer is strong grass STAB that gets a boost from Grassy Terrain. Drain Punch allows you to hit Pokemon like Shiftry, Miltank, Thievul, and Ferroseed super effectively.
Coalossal
Coalossal @ Heavy-Duty Boots

Careful Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Rock Blast
- Flamethrower
Coalossal is here for role compression, setting up Stealth Rock and getting rid of entry hazards on your side. Coalossal's benefit of Grassy Terrain is damage from Earthquake being halved. Stealth is for setting up an entry hazard. Rapid Spin is for clearing away hazards on your side as long as a ghost type isn't present. Rock Blast is for doing chip damage and hits multiple times and is rock STAB. Flamethrower is fire STAB that attacks Pokemon on their special defense side.
Flapple
Flapple @ Life Orb
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Grav Apple
- Draco Meteor
- U-turn
A mixed offensive set that also benefits from Grassy Terrain. Grassy Glide is STAB that has priority in Grassy Terrain. Grav Apple is another grass STAB that gets a boost from Grassy Terrain and Hustle that lowers the defense stat of opposing Pokemon. Draco Meteor is dragon STAB that allows you to deal a good amount of damage to physically defensive Pokemon such as Tangela and Altaria, with the latter being hit by Draco Meteor for super effective damage. U-Turn is for pivoting.
Quick Questions:
Should I use Careful or Sassy Nature on Coalossal?
Is Burning Jealousy good on Thievul? Or should I replace it with another move?
How well does this team do against hazard stack teams?
Thanks for reading!
