Pokémon Rate My Team

This is a team that I built around the Dark-type, themed around the idea of me being a Gym leader. Any and all feedback is appreciated!

Absol (F) @ Razor Claw
Ability: Super Luck
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Claw
- Psycho Cut
- Night Slash

Absol is the crit monster of the team. Razor Claw + Super Luck means that I have a pretty high critical hit chance, plus I have moves with naturally high crit rates. Swords Dance is to help set up, Psycho Cut is there for any Fighting-types, and Shadow Claw + Night Slash is a good synergy combo.

Sableye @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick
- Disable
- Will-O-Wisp
- Foul Play

Sableye is designed to be as annoying as possible. I'm running the Trick + Disable strategy in case of people trying to set up, Will-O-Wisp for any physical sweepers, and Foul Play in case someone tries to use Swords Dance. This is the 'mon I'm most open to making changes to.

Lokix @ Wide Lens
Ability: Tinted Lens
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Axe Kick
- First Impression
- Throat Chop
- U-turn

Lokix... I'm not sure how to use it properly. This is a Pokemon that I really like, but have no clue what to do with. Is First Impression and U-Turn a good combo at least?

Obstagoon @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Facade
- Throat Chop
- Bulk Up
- Lash Out

The gutsy heavy hitter of the team. Obstagoon has Bulk Up to set up, a Guts and Flame Orb-boosted Facade, and Throat Chop + Lash Out for Dark STAB. I feel like the moveset could use some improvement though.

Bisharp @ Eviolite
Ability: Defiant
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Brick Break
- Hone Claws
- Iron Head
- Knock Off

Bulky and hard-hitting, Bisharp makes good use of the Eviolite here. It gets good STAB with Knock Off and Iron Head, an excellent setup move in Hone Claws, and Brick Break in case of a screen-setter.

Roaring Moon @ Assault Vest
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Dragon Claw
- U-turn

Finally, the "ace" of the team: Roaring Moon. It's fast, it hits like a freaking truck, and it would be so much better if I knew how to use it. Roaring Moon mains, help me out!

So, that's my mono-Dark team. I'm not used to using this Type, so I'll take all the help I can get!

Is this for ND Monotype or National Dex OU?
ND Monotype!
why Hone Claws on Bisharp when Swords Dance exists? Also, Lash Out and TChop are a bit redundant, so they could be replaced by a Fighting type move.
Tbh, I forgot that Bisharp had access to Swords Dance. and yeah, I could probably stick something else on Obstagoon.
I'll likely give this a rate soon.

This team will not let you ascend the ladder very quickly. To improve it, we’ll need to replace quite a bit of your team and make significant changes to the rest. Bear in mind this version is merely an upgrade – it isn’t perfect.

Absol → Meowscarada

Absol isn’t viable, unfortunately. A better frail physical attacker would be Meowscarada, who can break through walls, remove items, and get off fast U-turns.

Meowscarada @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flower Trick
- Knock Off
- Thunder Punch
- U-turn

Sableye

Your set is really strange, and it just doesn’t work well. Mega Sableye is currently A Rank on the viability rankings, so you should use that instead, along with a more standard set that can fire off Prankster burns and heal reliably.

Sableye @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Protect

Lokix

Good choice. A sufficiently boosted Lokix can make the Dark-vs-Dark matchup much easier to handle – your team struggles a bit otherwise. Swap the Wide Lens with a Life Orb to make it capable of turning 2HKOs into OHKOs (for example, it can OHKO Hydreigon with Life Orb).

Lokix @ Life Orb
Ability: Tinted Lens
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- First Impression
- U-turn
- Throat Chop
- Axe Kick

Obstagoon → Greninja

Greninja is a fast special breaker, something your team needs. Obstagoon is too weak to be of much use, and Protean Greninja can offer much more consistent results against Fighting teams thanks to Extrasensory.

Greninja @ Choice Specs
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Extrasensory
- Grass Knot

Bisharp → Kingambit

Even with Eviolite, Bisharp is quite frail. Kingambit is a much more imposing offensive presence with Supreme Overlord, and it’s fairly easy to revenge kill thanks to its boosted damage.

Kingambit @ Leftovers
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 116 HP / 252 Atk / 140 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Kowtow Cleave

Roaring Moon → Moltres-Galar

Roaring Moon is a good Pokemon, but Moltres-Galar can turn the Bug matchup in your favour, which you can’t do otherwise. This set was taken from the Galarian Moltres moveset thread – for an in-depth explanation, check that answer.

Moltres-Galar @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Berserk
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 64 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 188 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Agility
- Nasty Plot
- Fiery Wrath
- Hurricane

Most of these sets were taken from (or based on) Smogon. It’s important to note that metagames evolve, so this team may not work as well in the future.

The team still has a few flaws, most notably the lack of hazards and hazard removal. I didn’t encounter many hazards while playtesting the team, but if it’s an issue to you, you can replace Moltres-Galar for Defog Mandibuzz and play around with Spikes Greninja.

If you liked the team, you can find an importable version here.

Good luck!

Thank you! I've given up on this team, tbh, but your set is quite interesting
