Pokémon Rate My Team

Hello! Sorry for posting twice. I hid the old post and couldn't unhide it >M<

I realized a while back that I had never tried TR as a strategy, and just kinda dismissed it as being bad without thinking. So, I made this team! I've managed to get to about 1450 ELO on Pokemon Showdown, but I was wondering if it could be better.

also suggestions about the nicknames are entirely welcome

autism (Hatterene) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
Level: 50
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Dazzling Gleam
- Psychic
- Trick Room
- Mystical Fire

  • First TR setter; built to be a little tanky (or at least tanky enough to get TR off) and then just spam Dazzling Gleam
  • Magic Bounce is HILARIOUS i LOVE Magic Bounce Taunt
  • Tera Ghost to stop Sneasler in its tracks (Immune to Fake Out/Resistant to Dire Claw)
  • Psychic in cases where I need a little extra power and don't want to be weakened by using a spread move
  • Mystical Fire as some kinda useful coverage
  • Sometimes dies to hits I needed it to take (especially the golden Apple Jacks mascot and his cash register of doom but I don't think there's much I can do about that)
  • Nicknamed as such because whenever Hatterene senses strong emotions she tears the perpetrator to smithereens (so real so me)

rawr (Incineroar) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Darkest Lariat
- Parting Shot
- Fake Out
- Flare Blitz

  • Obligatory Incineroar
  • Is very useful with Fake Out stopping potential dangers from preventing TR
  • Can pivot with Parting Shot when it's no longer useful
  • Sometimes feels clunky on the field? Like its not fast enough to pivot usefully (or can't because of Abilities like Defiant) so it just kind of sits there doing nothing when I would want another Pokemon on the field.
  • Very uninspired nickname, suggestions welcome

royalty (Kingambit) @ Life Orb
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Kowtow Cleave
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Protect

  • Honestly idk what Kingambit does for this team
  • It's good against Fairy types, which Araquanid kind of is but Kingambit does it better
  • yeah das it
  • named after a Kingambit i made for a friend

sippy cup (Sinistcha) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Hospitality
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Hex
- Matcha Gotcha
- Scald

  • Our second TR setter
  • Focus Sash is for getting off a single TR and can be healed back with MG
  • Tera Water powers up Scald. I think it was supposed to do something else but I genuinely forgot lol. Suggestions welcome!
  • Matcha Gotcha is an INCREDIBLY spammable move. Basically anything that doesn't quad-resist it is taking at least substantial damage.
  • Scald/MG and Hex is a pretty sick combo, also Hex lets Sinistcha hit opposing Grass types, which it previously struggled with
  • Honestly I don't have any real complaints about Sinistcha. It does what it's supposed to do and I like that
  • Named after a song (sippy cup's on my bedroom floor doo doo doo doo)

wug (Araquanid) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Water Bubble
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 236 HP / 196 Atk / 76 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Poison Jab
- Chilling Water
- X-Scissor
- Liquidation

  • Our built-in Eruption counter
  • This thing is a special BEAST (252+ SpA Charcoal Tera Fire Torkoal Eruption (150 BP) vs. 236 HP / 76+ SpD Assault Vest Water Bubble Araquanid in Sun: 44-54 (25.4 - 31.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO)
  • Tera Water Liquidation stops Eruption from doing any damage (also Tera Water makes it resist Eruption)
  • Another Pokemon I'm more or less satisfied with, but if you think there's anything better I could use, please let me know!
  • water bug (wug)

wilfred (Ursaluna-Bloodmoon) @ Throat Spray
Ability: Mind's Eye
Level: 50
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 140 HP / 196 SpA / 172 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Earth Power
- Blood Moon
- Hyper Voice
- Moonblast

  • BEHOLD THE ARCHALUDON-PROOF BEAR
  • +1 196+ SpA Ursaluna-Bloodmoon Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 244 SpD Assault Vest Archaludon: 336-396 (87.5 - 103.1%) -- 25% chance to OHKO
  • Ursaluna-B is immune to Electro Shot which is kinda useful, but the Ground typing becomes more of a hinderance because of Pelipper
  • I used to have Expert Belt/Moonlight instead of Throat Spray/Hyper Voice but decided to try the mainstream set. What do y'all think?
  • Named after a super niche reference to a horror podcast episode (magnus archives fans unite)

That's the team! I have a couple concerns after sharing it in the Showdown forums. Mainly,
Do I need more Protect users?
I almost never click it but almost everyone says I need it, especially on Ursaluna and Sinistcha. Do I need it, and, if I do, when is it useful in battle?
Is there a better Pokemon than Kingambit that I could use?
When writing this post, I realized that Kingambit really doesn't do much at all. It's typing makes it very weak to crucial Pokemon (Archaludon w/ Body Press, Annihilape, Sneasler), and while Tera Fairy can remedy that for a turn, 2/3 of the Pokemon I just mentioned make quick work of Fairy types. It was the best Physical attacker I could think of that works well in Trick Room, but any better Pokemon that fill this role would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a ton!

Finally a vgc rmt question.
Before I answer your questions at the end, I have already noticed a few flaws with your team

  1. sneasler can literally shred your entire team in half, with super effective moves on every Pokémon. Even if hatterene teras, your average sneasler, especially at that level, will run lash out/throat chop, which is still super effective
  2. your team has no synergy, whatsoever. It seems you just put in some decent Pokémon and just called it a day, I have no clue how you got to 1450 elo.giu don't even know what the role is for gambit

  3. your sinistcha is a very odd when, as most are supportive instead of attacking. I would suggest matcha gotcha, life dew, trick room and rage powder, but keep tera water as it is a great tera in this case

Firstly, I'll try and fix the second problem and hopefully fix the first in the process. You have to ask your self what your gimmick is in this team, which is trick room. You also have to ask what your main attacker is, then use 3 supporting mons that main attacker with helping hands, healing, or terrain and/or weather. Also include two other attacking Pokémon that will blend nicely with the 3 supporting.

An example of a team that has great synergy is Dondozo, tastugiri, pelipper, archaludon, indeede and sneasler. This is all revolved around Dondozo, with tastugiri obviously supporting it, pelipper boosting wave crash, indeede allowing for blocking of priorities, which will be used to counter X2 Dondozo speed, and then arch which works incredibly well under rain and psychic seed sneasler which works incredibly well with indeede.

Try to emulate this with your own tactics and once you have answer the questions and then your team will be perfect and carry you to new heights. Fyi, I see hatterene as your core attacker as it has the most potential and a lot of things can support it.
