How about FL Studio? I find that to be a very great DAW myself. You can always see about the Demo version of it (you just can't re-open projects afterwards).
There are many DAWs out there. Ableton live is okay I guess. :)

Well, Gen 5 is very good! It isn't necessarily easy or hard, just moderate. I'd say its a really good game to Nuzlocke since you can get solid encounters like Lillipup on the first routes, and if you're playing Black 2/White 2 you can encounter Sewaddle and Venipede, which evolves to Leavanny and Scolipede respectively. Both are a solid option for a Nuzlocke!

The gyms are quite a fun challenge, however they may have annoying Gimmicks like Elesa's twin Emolgas that just keep Volt-Switching the crap out of the battle. Oh and you wanna level up a lot if no level caps are applied, some can get real tuff!

Plus, the Unova sequels' stories are very good too ;)
