I was on the way home on the bus, thinking about thoughts, the usual, when I came up with an idea for a story.

A family consists of 2 teens (boy and a girl), a young child (boy), a mom, and a dad. Almost every week, they did something together, whether it be going out to activities or doing something at their home. They were a close, loving family, until they had to move and dad got  new job. Now, the family doesn't do much of anything together, mom struggles with managing finances, the teens argue a lot and are doing bad in school, and everyday, dad comes home complaining about something that happened at work.

One day, the children (teens and boy) decide to sneak into dad's car to see what his new job is like and how they can improve his day. However, what they find is something they've never imagined. Everyone at the building looks and acts exactly like their dad, grumpy and tired, same cars, and clothes. The dads don't even know what's going on, due to them being blindfolded when going into the building. The kids attempt to sneak in, but with heavy security (the security aren't dads), the kids are forced to retreat, chased by the security. They find dad's car, hop inside, and wait for him to return from work. Dad arrives sooner than expected, because he forgot something at home.

After dad arrives home and enters the house, the kids climb out the trunk of the car (yes, the trunk), only to discover they aren't home. Their mom is replaced by someone completely different, the colors of everything around them is different, and there's different versions of themselves. The kids hide in the car once again as dad returns from the house, and soon, their back in the parking lot.

With everyone inside, the kids are left to explore the parking lot for their dad's car. The problem is, everything looks the exact same. Every car is the same color, has the same things inside, and the same license plates. That is, until further inspection when the kids notice that everything in the car has a significant meaning to dad. It is then that the kids notice every car has something slightly different; something tilted ever so slightly, something having a change in color, a different or missing item, etc.

The kids have to search each car and alternate universe in search of their own world. With each world presenting a new memory the kids have to remember everything about their family, even longing to bond again. Will the kids be able to find the right car and return home? (Yes, they will)
