/Chapter 4: A Chance Encounter\

    I was ready to set off in search of the Red Gyarados. However, there was still one more thing I needed to grab before I left. As I doubt Team Rocket would let the same guy who stopped the Slowpoke plan join in on the schemes, I needed a disguise. Luckily, the underground building where I took the picture posing as a Team Rocket member was the perfect place to get a disguise. So I headed down to the building and confronted the photographer.

    “Hello again. Would you like to-

    “TOGEPI USE FLASH!”  

    “Toge toge piiii”
    (I don’t know that move)

    “I don’t care! Use it anyways!”

    “Toge. Toge Pi Pi, Toge Priii.”
    (No. Sorry, but I can’t)

    “So, are you gonna take a picture?”

    “In one sec,” I said. Over the course of my journey, I’ve been carrying Togepi around pretty much everywhere. And as shiny hunting requires a lot of running around in grass or caves, Togepi was at it’s max friendship level. So I took a rare candy out my bag, fed it to Togepi, and threw Togepi at the photographer.

    “Sir, if you aren’t going to take a picture, you sho- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!” Togepi gleamed a bright light as it started to evolve. Under the distraction of Togepi’s bright evolution light, I quickly grabbed the Team Rocket costume, stuffed it in my bag, and took the camera just because. I yelled “B!” to cancel Togepi’s evolution, withdrew it into it’s Poke Ball, and hightailed it out the building.

    Next, I needed to get a water pain, since I needed to get past the Salsa-dancing Sudowoodo blocking the route to Ecruteak City. So I went to the nearby flower shop, only to encounter a roadblock.  

    “What do you mean I can’t get a SquirtBottle until I beat Whitney?! That’s Tauros and Shiinotic! Countless people need to cross through Route 36 to get to Goldenrod, but you’re telling me to get a SquirtBottle, a regular person must devote their life to being a Pokemon Trainer, challenging the gyms, and beating some dumb girl and her fat pink cow?! Or what about the flowers on the side of the road huh? How are they gonna get watered? Do you not care about the environment? Hello! You have a freakin flower shop!”

    “Look, just beat Whitney, prove your strength, and I’ll give you the bottle. It’s really not that hard.”

    “This is stupid. You know what, I don’t need your stupid water pail. I’ll find another way around.”

    Yeah, that happened. So, still in a bit of rage, I traveled through Route 35 and the National Park and finally reached Route 36 and the Sudowoodo.

    “Really?! You’re telling me that this thin Sudowoodo was the one causing all the trouble. You guys know you can just step around it, right?”

    So, defying the laws of Pokemon and the universe as we know it, I did just that. I stepped around the Sudowoodo. I’m surprised no invisible borders or anything stopped me. I felt a little chill. So, I continued up to Route 37, destroyed a few trainers, and arrived at Ecruteak City. I stopped at the Pokemon Center to heal my team, and as I was walking around, I heard a female voice screaming from the inside of a dance theater.  

    Inside was a Kimono Girl (or fancy Asian woman, as I like to call them), screaming and running away from a Team Rocket grunt. She took her shoe off and threw it at him, but the grunt dodged and kept creepily saying “Dance for me, Dance for me!” I knew what I had to do, but the protagonist stuff could wait, as I an important matter at hand.  

    “Hey! Hey you!” I yelled, frantically jumping up and down and waving my hands around, trying to get the Rocket grunt to notice me. “Over here!” I yelled. But my attempts were useless as the grunt and Kimono Girl didn’t notice me. I weaved through the chairs and ran up to the stage, where the scene was taking place. However, I tripped on a chair leg and fumbled forward, launching my Master Ball out my bag and onto the stage in front of the Rocket grunt.  

    “GAGYAGYAAH!!!!” Roared Palkia, busting out of it’s Poke Ball. The Team Rocket Grunt stared at the dragon, paralyzed in fear, before screaming and running away.

    “Wait, no, don’t go! I wanna join team...” I dropped the costume I barely pulled out my bag. I knew my efforts were wasted.

    “Thank you SO much,” said the Kimono Girl in a hurry. “Here, take this HM for Surf.” The woman forced the disk into my hands and reclaimed her shoe. “I’m moving to Kalos...” she mumbled as she headed behind the stage.

    I dashed out of the theater and scanned the area for any signs of the Team Rocket grunt. I didn’t see any signs of him, and my spirits fell. So close to getting to Team Rocket, but alas, I failed. I decided to continue to the Lake of Rage. I traveled East to Route 42, only to encounter another roadblock. I had to travel across small lakes or through Mt. Mortar, both which required Surf. I decided to cross the lakes, as that seemed to be the easiest path. I sent out Lusterous, forced the Surf disc down it’s throat, and prepared to cross the lakes.

    “What do you mean you can’t cross the lake?!”

    “You don’t have the Ecruteak Gym Badge. Simple as that,” Lusterous replied.

    “gquu7in37v2b7qy3vb8at YOU’RE A GIANT WATER FISH DRAGON! YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO SWIM WITHOUT HUMAN TECHNOLOGY!!!”

    “Sorry, I have to follow the rules,” the giant dragon said.

    At this point, I was fed up with the world’s stupid rules. I picked up Lusterous and tossed him into the lake. The Palkia sank to the bottom of the lake and drowned.

    “Oh KAY THEN!” I yelled, fed up with the stupidity of the situation. “Covid, can you fly me across this lake?”

    “Cro crobat?”
    (Without Fly?)

    Immediately, the pink Crobat’s wings turned to stone, and the bat fell from the sky and sank to the ground. “Son of a Boltund,” I mumbled. I decided to try again with Lusterous.

    “Listen here, Palkia! You don’t need an HM to walk or breathe, so don’t listen to the stupid laws of the world and just swim like you were meant to!”

    “Uh, okay...” Lusterous dove into the water and floated atop the surface. “Woah. WOAH!” Lusteous shouted. “This feels GREAT! I’m swimming WITHOUT the use of a mechanical disc!”

    “I’m glad you like it,” I said. “Now let’s cross this lake.”

    I eventually reached Mahogany Town, and after a bit of training, having evolved Kobra and Stalker, I headed up Route 43 to get to the Lake of Rage. I chose the path with no tall grass, which made me pay $1000 to advance, but I didn’t mind. After beating a couple trainers, I finally arrived at the Lake of Rage.

    There it was in the middle of the lake, dancing and screeching as it aggressively splashed around. The Red Gyarados. I hopped onto Lusterous and surfed near the Gyarados. I grabbed a tripod and set it on a nearby rock. I took out the camera from earlier, set it on the tripod, and started recording.

    “EEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYY YOOOOO What’s up YouTube fans! I’m gonna be hunting the Lake of Rage Gyarados! Hopefully, this won’t be a long hunt. Wish me luck!”

    (*encounters Gyarados*)

    “OWH MY GAAAAAAwWWwwWWwwWwWDDD!!!! FIRST ENCOUNTER SHINY GARADOWS!!” (Throws Poke Ball and cuts to the moment of capture because it wouldn’t get in the first ball). “Yes, caught it first try!”

    I uploaded the video to YouTube and picked up the Red Scale that the Gyarados had dropped. I surfed to the shore and was met with by a rather intimidating man with red hair and dragon vibes.  

    “I’m Lance. You caught the Gyarados, so you must be a strong trainer. I need you to help me with something.”

    Without giving me a choice, Lance tied me up, put me onto his Dragonite, and flew us to Mahogany Town. When we landed, Lance dragged me to the nearby convenience store kicked down the door, and Hyper Beamed a guy. Lance, continuing his outrage, knocked over a cabinet, and knocked out the nearby salesman. Lance dragged me down the stairs that were hidden under the cabinet he knocked over. I gasped in shock when I realized where we were.

    We had found Team Rocket’s hidden HQ.
