Yeah it's not very often that people put serious effort (and money) into writing good stories for a video game. I would praise the story more but I don't want to spoil it.
As for the remake, I have heard that they added a lot of missions that just make the game longer and don't contribute very much to the story.

I played the original Final Fantasy 7, and I think it's better than the remake.



It might still be worse than FF6 though.

I read it as Kevin tortures the animals, so the pat of him doing it to the best of his knowledge and belief is even more fked up.
