Nope -- 10k points was the prerequisite for expert a very long time ago. Editor has always been hand-picked.

No, we need to give it to you manually. 6k points grants editing powers, but it's only by tradition we do the expert title at 6k as well.
In any case, you've got the title now. Congrats! It looks like what I said a while ago about the 6k method being obsolete has been proven quite wrong.
