Would the masuda method still work with Pokemon migrated from gen-3 games and a foreign Pokemon obtained via GTS trade?

Question

In my case I've been using my ditto from fire-red to breed with my Japanese totodile. Have my chances of hatching a shiny been raised or have I been wasting my time?

I'm Pretty sure that it still works, but in generation 3, it might be a little different.

Masuda method works in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver. Any Pokemon (especialy traded from gen 3) are effective for the masuda method. A foreign Pokemon is needed or it won`t work.

Thanks for your thoughts shiny xerneas! I already switched out my migrated ditto with one indigenous to the game  but i have at least two boxes full of unhatched eggs from the first ditto! If I in fact hadn't been wasting my time after-all then there's still a chance that a shiny might lie among them. Its still been a long forever though! Have you ever successfully tried this?
