I have a soft spot for Ferroseed and Ferrothorn, and in the spirit of raising one to be a low speed, gyro-ball wall, I am trying to ev-train it in Def and Sp.Def. It has a Relaxed nature for chopped speed and boosted Def, as well as Scatters Things Often for boosted Health. Granted this may not be the perfect combination, it hasn't failed me yet without ev-training.

The major question is, where can I go for better Def ev's?

Wellspring cave seems to be the only place that's offered, but are there any better options? I'm getting really tired of running into anywhere between 1-5 Woobats for every 1 or 2 Roggenrolla's I KO.

If you don't want to know any further information, so perhaps suggestions can be offered, then the primary question ends before this part.

A secondary question is; Does this set up work?
Ferroseed/thorn
Personality - Scatters things often
Nature - Relaxed
Ev's - 252 Def, 252 Sp.Def, 4 HP, 2 Unused
Moves -
Gyro Ball [PP Upped to 8]
Curse [adds to defense and power of GB]
Ingrain [recovery, forced battle]
Thunder Wave or Substitute [move first/prolonged wall...ness.]

Best answer

Durant: +2 Def
- Victory Road
= 40%, compared to Woobat's 10%, Mienfoo's 10%, Deino's 20% and Boldore's 20%

Jellicent: + 2 Special Def
- Routes 4, 17, 18, Driftveil City, P2 Laboratory

Alomomola: + 2 HP
- Routes 4, 17, 18, Driftveil City, P2 Laboratory

Audino: + 2 HP
- pretty much every route (in rustling grass)

These are all BW locations.

List of Pokemon by EV yield

I would go for this set:

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers/ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP, 88 Def, 168 Sp. Def
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Spikes
- Gyro Ball

Ingrain isn't a good move for Ferrothorn. It can't switch out as a result, and a Heatran switch in will OHKO you.

That's a more competitive set. Use Power Whip when dealing with Jellicent or Alomomola, otherwise you'll be there all day.

I would accept that one, but I can't find any pokemon save for Ferros that have both of those moves via egg moves.
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Ferrothorn_(Pok%C3%A9mon) - Cacturne is the Pokemon that learns Leech Seed & Spikes via level up and can breed with Ferrothorn.
