In black 2 if your're trying to get a shiny starter,but get tired and save, will you lose your progress for the shiny?

There is no "progress" in getting a shiny starter. There's only two things that can happen.
- It's Shiny.
- It's not Shiny.
There's no process, like doing it a certain number of times. it's shiny or it's not.
